INJURED HAWK GETS WELL AND IS RELEASED

Jake Caleca, Superintendent of Bear course found an injured Hawk on Forest property last week.
Jake and Mr. Ben-Susan captured the bird and contacted the bird hospital CROW, (The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife). The hospital nursed it back to health and in a week, brought the bird back on property.

They release it Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the same spot it was found injured.

The Hawk didn’t take long to be reunited to his / her mate by loud squawking.  It showed how much each was missed and... "Where have you been for the past week???"

#11 BOBCAT DRAINAGE CULVERT REPAIRED IN-HOUSE

On The Forest Country Club property, behind #11 Bobcat green is a large drainage vault that connects to the preserve off property.

Original galvanized drainage pipe rusted away from the concrete vault.

We were able to fix the failure in-house. We used a large 24" PVC pipe which is much stronger and more durable that the old original galvanized pipe.

Hydraulic cement was applied to wrapped around the connections for a secure and tight fit to prevent leakage.
We're going to backfill and sod around the fault. Rip Rap on either side to prevent erosion.

Special thanks to Superintendent, Michael Chickrell and Assistant, Ed Matthews who completed the project.

Mole Cricket Damage will be a Thing of the Past

We completed our application of Chipco Choice for Mole Cricket and Fire Ant control.  We applied the Chipco Choice to both the Bear and Bobcat courses.  Only Certified applicators (Southern Soils) can apply the product. Bayer Chemical Company is so confident in their product, they give a six month guarantee that the little varmints never to return. If they do, Bayer will give, free of charge, as much product as it takes to take care of the problem.

Mole Crickets are crickets with strong forearms that dig like Moles.

As you can see, the Cricket tries to dig in the cart path and when that fails can scoot pretty fast to get away.

Lake at #4 Bobcat Gets a New Facelift

With the severe drought this season 2017, the water level dropped to an all-time low showing off rocks and the ugly bottom of the shallow pond.

We dug out what we could and exposed rocks where the birds will be able to roust and hunt for food. The other parts of the pond will have a little deeper, exposed water.

The edges of the pond had dropped off so we went in and reclaimed the edges all the way around.

8" main line irrigation break on #6 Bear tee area.  The break shut down the irrigation system for a couple days waiting on parts. The parts were fused together and back in operation.
Great Job to Chuck and Jake.
